Hello there guys! It’s me Romi. Welcome back to my blog. Today, I’m going to share to you my reasons why I wanted to join the minimalist club. I know we all have different perspectives in life and I’ll be very much happy if somehow we share the same ideals when it comes to this one. So yeah, here is my list.
1. I wanted to Save Money
Yup! This is my top reason actually. If you didn’t know it yet, I’m an overseas Filipino worker at the age of 24. I don’t have my own family yet but I support my relatives at home (Philippines). It isn’t that easy to live and work outside your home country. Aside from the emotional struggles, we also face A LOT of financial problems. That’s why we’re working abroad. Of course, I have my goals and one of it is to save as much as I can for my retirement. This is where I think minimalism can help me a lot. Because I will try to live simply, I know I will be able to control my expenses and be a more responsible individual.
2. I wanted to help Mother Earth
Lately, I have been seeing advocacies and organizations intended in saving our earth. A lot of movement is rising and yeah, literally I was moved by those. While contemplating about becoming minimalist, I also thought of ways how to at least lessen the damage I am making to our environment. And through acquiring less stuff especially those made of plastic, I think I could help mother earth and the next generations in the long run. Honestly, I envy those who have realized and made an action already years ago to save our planet. Some people have been minimalist, living plastic free and are vegan for a long time already. I know with their small ways they feel satisfied that they are helping save the earth. I want to be one of them too.
3. I wanted to be truly HAPPY
How can you be happy by restricting yourself to buy what you want Romy? Are you kidding?
No I am not. You know guys, before I stepped my foot into this massive change in lifestyle I thought about it hundreds of time. I have my more important goals and I don’t think getting or buying more stuff will make me truly happy. Actually upon thinking about it, I realized that owning more stuff didn’t gave me much happiness afterwards. Perhaps it gave me more stress by thinking where to store it or how to maintain it or am I really using it much for its value or just allowing it to accumulate dust. Things like that. If you are really not 100% decided to become a minimalist, this will not make sense to you. But for me, it’s making a lot of sense. Haha! I know minimalism will help me find what will truly give me happiness. It will eliminate all extra stuff and distractions that hides my real purpose in life. I hope you find it together with me too.
So that’s it. If you think we’re on the same boat you can leave a comment down below and we can sail together in this journey. See you until my next post.
